HughesNet Standard (Basic) Installation INSTALLATION is the most important part of your HughesNet experience. If your system is not installed correctly, it will NEVER work correctly. - Our installer will use ONLY HUGHESNET APPROVED materials and techniques to complete your installation.
- Mount the dish to an approved structure at least five feet off the ground as required by FCC regulations, using HughesNet standard roof, and/or wall mounting brackets. We are unable to mount to vinyl siding, stucco, metal siding or other surface unable to support the weight of the dish. Solid Wood and Brick and most non-metal roofs are approved surfaces.
- Mount to a one-story surface.
- Install HughesNet modem to 1 computer. HughesNet can support multiple computers using a wired or wireless network, however additional networking hardware and installation are required. Our technicians can provide this service upon request. Ask for details.
- Route two RG-6 coaxial cables (each up to 100 feet in length) from the dish into the house, and to the HughesNet modem. These cables will be routed by penetrating 1 exterior wall and the floor.
- Provide and install the hardware required to properly ground your HughesNet System.
- Verify receipt of satellite signal.
- Activate HughesNet Internet and provide the customer with activation code for their email account.
- Standard (Basic) installation normally takes about 2 hours.
Custom / Complex Installations Complex/Custom installations that may result in additional fees Make sure you discuss any custom work with your installer and agree on any custom charges before work begins. We provide written agreements for custom work. - Moldings or cosmetic hardware to help hide cables
- Installing cables inside walls - wall fishing
- Non-Penetrating roof mounts, pole mounts or chimney mounts
- Removal or repair of previously mounted equipment
- Installations that exceed one story in height
